A tripod, a document holder, and a digital camera can replace a flatbed scanner for scanning documents and digitizing old photos. My flatbed scanner retired after years of use. Instead of purchasing a new scanner and a DIY copy stand, I decided to purchase a DSLR with 24 megapixel. Not only I can use it for scanning documents, but also taking photos of artwork and other rigid objects. I was thinking of purchasing a copy stand, but the price is prohibitive. The cheaper copy stands are not good. Therefore, I decided to use a tripod, and an inclined document holder that I made.
